They say not to judge a book by its cover, and something I learned long ago is not to judge a mascara by its price tag. In fact, my favorite mascara sits on a drug store shelf and costs a very reasonable $5.50. The mascara I’m talking about is
Wow, can it actually be the end of November already?! Where did this month go? I know it’s a cliché, but time really does fly when you’re having fun! And fun this month was, the definite highlight being our weeklong trip to Maui. Needless to say, this month’s highlight reel is absolutely dominated by photos from that trip…
One of the most memorable parts of our vacation was a snorkeling trip we took to Molokini Crater, a marine sanctuary a few miles off shore. It’s the perfect spot for snorkeling because the water there is clear as glass, and home to a reef full of marine life
Tropical fruit on a tropical vacation is an absolute must. We got this delicious little treat of papaya and lilikoi (that’s what they call passion fruit in Hawaii) at a cute little fruit stand on the side of the road, and I’ve been dreaming about it ever since
Happy Thanksgiving to all of my American readers! I’m fairly new to American Thanksgiving myself, but that only makes it feel all the more special. I love that Thanksgiving brings family together, and I’d never turn down an excuse to stop and think about what I’m grateful for. This year, that list includes:
- YOU my readers! Knowing that I have loyal readers visiting my blog inspires me to work harder and make it the best that it can possibly be. Your comments seriously make my day! So thank you!
- My Canadian family. Even though I don’t get to see you as often as I would like, I love you so much, and miss you, especially at this time of year when everybody else is spending the holiday with their family (even though you don’t technically celebrate it). You’re love and support mean everything to me.
- Max, Sonny and Stevie. You guys are my world. Thank you for making every day so special.
- My life in California – I am constantly pinching myself, hoping it’s not a dream. Getting to live in this amazing place is something that I’m always grateful for, but today seems as good as any to actually put it into writing.
Moving to San Diego has meant a lot more of these! Continue reading
Halloween is one of my favorite holidays! I think that’s because it’s the only time of year when Continue reading
As I previously mentioned, my ‘family’ and I (and by family, I am, of course, referring to my fiancé and our two dogs) recently moved from LA to SD (San Diego). One of the things I’ve been looking forward to most about our move is
I love iced coffee, but I hate the fact that I can’t just sip it slowly and enjoy it (as I would a regular cup of coffee). Instead, I’m always finding myself in a race with the ice to see who can get to the coffee first, and, spoiler alert, the ice usually wins. So when I came across this fun little idea to make coffee ice cubes, and completely irradiate said problem for good, I simply had to share with you, my readers. (I’ve always got your back).
I wouldn’t even call this a recipe, it’s really more of a how-to, and a super simple one at that! In my version, I used Continue reading
I recently had the amazing opportunity to shoot at the Kimberly McDonald flagship store in West Hollywood, and am so excited to finally share my time there with all of you. This week represents a couple of ‘firsts’ for Just Jilli: my first interview on the blog (with Kimberly McDonald’s Design Assistant – after the jump), and my first (of many) videos. I couldn’t be happier or more grateful to have Kimberly McDonald as my ‘first’ in these regards, because I really respect this brand on a number of levels. It goes without saying that her collections are TO DIE FOR gorgeous! (Watch the video and you’ll know exactly what I’m talking about). But what I especially love about this brand is its commitment to sustainability and appreciation of nature!
I wanted to dig deeper into this very special brand, so Design Assistant Christina Chapman kindly agreed to let me interview her:
I know everyone is all about that fall fashion lately, but honestly, with the heat wave we’ve been experiencing in LA this week, fall is the last thing on my mind! (First thing on my mind – trying not to drown in a pool of my own sweat!) With temperatures in the 100’s (that’s high 30’s in Celsius) the only sensible thing to wear this week has been Continue reading
