As a professional trend forecaster and designer, my relationship with fashion trends can be summed up in two strong words: love-hate. You see, it feels great to be on-trend, but the pesky little thing about trends is that they continually go out of style, leaving gaping holes in your wardrobe that need to be filled with, you guessed it, more trendy clothes! As you can see, it’s a pretty vicious cycle. (BTW, that was definitely meant to be sarcastic; it’s times like these that a sarcastic font would pretty useful! But I digress…) Working in the fashion industry definitely taught me to appreciate those timeless staples that can be worn season after season without going stale. That’s why this week’s feature trend is the moto jacket, one of those rare and versatile fashion pieces that manages to transcend seasons and look good all year round. And while theres nothing wrong with the conventional black leather moto (I’ve had mine for 6 years and it’s still one of my favorite pieces in my closet) there are so many different options available today. Switching it up with fabric or proportion just breathes new life into an old classic.
