I love iced coffee, but I hate the fact that I can’t just sip it slowly and enjoy it (as I would a regular cup of coffee). Instead, I’m always finding myself in a race with the ice to see who can get to the coffee first, and, spoiler alert, the ice usually wins. So when I came across this fun little idea to make coffee ice cubes, and completely irradiate said problem for good, I simply had to share with you, my readers. (I’ve always got your back).
I wouldn’t even call this a recipe, it’s really more of a how-to, and a super simple one at that! In my version, I used Continue reading
There’s something about this time of year, probably just its proximity to Halloween, that gets me feeling all witchy inside. For example: exactly this time last year I got the urge to dye my hair purple (http://justjilli.com/2013/10/23/hollyweird/) and buy Demonia boots (http://justjilli.com/2014/08/26/all-about-the-a-line/) – I know, not the most practical purchase, but they still make me smile when I see them in my closet, so that’s gotta count for something, right? Well, this year my inner Goth child told me to get a (temporary) septum ring and dark purple lipstick. And my look took a decidedly darker direction when I combined these two things (septum + dark lips) and wore them with my new favorite flares and a cut-in graphic tank. (BTW, I am really feeling flared leggings and cut-in tanks right now, it’s all I seem to feel like wearing of late). I wore this outfit to the Chvrches concert at Hollywood Palladium last Friday night, which was our last big hurrah in Hollywood before the big move. (In case you missed it, I’m moving to San Diego TODAY!)
Fun fact: I actually helped design the top, and it’s one of my very favorite pieces of clothing right now! You can’t really see the hieroglyphic-type symbols down the front, but don’t fret, because I’m sure I’ll feature it in an actual outfit post soon enough.
I recently had the amazing opportunity to shoot at the Kimberly McDonald flagship store in West Hollywood, and am so excited to finally share my time there with all of you. This week represents a couple of ‘firsts’ for Just Jilli: my first interview on the blog (with Kimberly McDonald’s Design Assistant – after the jump), and my first (of many) videos. I couldn’t be happier or more grateful to have Kimberly McDonald as my ‘first’ in these regards, because I really respect this brand on a number of levels. It goes without saying that her collections are TO DIE FOR gorgeous! (Watch the video and you’ll know exactly what I’m talking about). But what I especially love about this brand is its commitment to sustainability and appreciation of nature!
I wanted to dig deeper into this very special brand, so Design Assistant Christina Chapman kindly agreed to let me interview her:
This week’s feature trend is the uneven, scalloped hem. I’m loving this look for fall as it lends itself especially well to Continue reading
When I started noticing that many of my favorite brands (Stone Cold Fox, SPELL, and For Love and Lemons) had awesome pieces incorporating uneven hems in their fall collections, I just knew I had to feature this trend on the blog! Uneven/scalloped hems are a fun way to Continue reading
Lipstick is such a quick, easy, and inexpensive way to update your look, it’s fun to experiment with new colors every once in a while. That’s why this week’s Makeup Monday post is all about dark lipstick, a makeup trend that feels so on point for fall, I’ve been dying to try it for myself. So naturally, being the compulsive planner that I am, I set about researching all of the best dark lip colors out there. Ultimately I was able to narrow it down to Continue reading
I know everyone is all about that fall fashion lately, but honestly, with the heat wave we’ve been experiencing in LA this week, fall is the last thing on my mind! (First thing on my mind – trying not to drown in a pool of my own sweat!) With temperatures in the 100’s (that’s high 30’s in Celsius) the only sensible thing to wear this week has been Continue reading
When your butt could have sat in the same salon chair as Jessica Simpson, Julianne Hough, or Selena Gomez (to name but a few) you know you’ve come to the right place. (And I’m not saying that because I think it’s ‘cool’ to have your hair cut at the same place as a celebrity, but because the one thing they all have in common is GORGEOUS hair!) Well I recently got my hair cut at this very salon, Nine Zero One to be exact, by one of their stylists named Molly. And I have to say that my hair feels totally healthy and refreshed. But the reason I’m sharing all of this with you is to pass along some great pieces of advice Molly gave me during my visit: Continue reading
Today’s outfit is all about this tweed moto jacket that I ‘borrowed’ from my mom (sure mom, of course you’ll get it back… *wink) What I love most about this piece is the fact that it’s Continue reading
As a professional trend forecaster and designer, my relationship with fashion trends can be summed up in two strong words: love-hate. You see, it feels great to be on-trend, but the pesky little thing about trends is Continue reading
