Flare Wear

How to Wear FlaresThis week I’ve been talking about flared bottoms as a great alternative to same-old skinnies. In today’s post, I pair mine with a cropped halter bralette and floppy hat, for a desert appropriate look to match my Palm Springs backdrop. But don’t feel intimidated by my (rather extreme) styling; this outfit’s really not for everyday wear. I could just as easily see myself wearing these pants with a loose drapey top to go to the movies or run errands in. This pair is stretchy, and so I really think of them as a great alternative to leggings. With that said, there is one thing you can do to master this trend and take your flared look to the next level… heels! I feel like I’ve been saying this a lot lately, but it couldn’t be more true. Heels are to fashion what salt is to cooking: they enhance the end product, making it infinitely better. This is especially true of flares, because when you pair them with heels, they have the effect of making your legs look like they go on for days; and that’s ALWAYS in style.
